Blue Springs Fitness Has a Challenge for You

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Over thirty people have already entered the second annual Holiday Fitness Challenge.  Just attending one group exercise class could lead to two free months of membership.  This is how the contest works:

You receive points for every class you attend and for every non-member friend you bring to class with you. You can receive bonus points for any classes that you attend every week between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. If your friend joins you will also get bonus points. For every point you get you will be given a ticket for a drawing for two months free membership. In addition, the person with the most points overall will receive three months free. The contest ends and the drawing will be held just after Valentine’s Day.

Most importantly, everyone who participates has a chance to find a class that will help them reach their goals. Our instructors are dedicated to your success. This contest is just one way we want to encourage you to come to class as often as you can and to invite your friends. Beginners are welcome in all our classes but experienced exercisers will find challenging workouts there, too.

We have three new classes on Mondays. Turbokickboxing has returned with Laura at 10:30 am and in the evening there is a new cycle class at 6:00 pm followed by yoga at 6:45. It’s a perfect time to give these new classes a try. Leslie continues to offer the body blast class at 5:00pm. And don’t forget the beginner’s sampler class coming in February. More details about that are in the previous post.

Hope to see you in class soon!

Getting Started in Group Exercise at Blue Springs Fitness

Friday, January 9th, 2009

January is all about new starts and great beginnings. Unfortunately, we can get deterred from our best intentions for a number of reasons. If you find it hard to find time to exercise, find it hard to stay motivated or aren’t sure how to get the best results then the group exercise program at Blue Springs Fitness is for you. This is not just me saying this but study after study shows that you are at least twice as likely to hit your goals if you attempt them with a group of like minded people. Our classes are held at the same time each week so you can learn to treat it as you would any other appointment and this will help you achieve the cornerstone of success: consistency. With the variety of times and classes offered you will certainly be able to find something you enjoy.

To help you find that special class we are starting a special beginners sampler class on Tuesday evenings.  Each class will be just 30 minutes long so you can sample one or two classes each week. Each month we will feature one or two instructors and 4 different formats to help you find classes you really like. For February we will be featuring our lively and knowledgeable instructor Dawn Dilday.  You can pick up a schedule of all of our free classes online or at the front desk along with a list of these special sampler classes. For Feb. the beginner sampler class schedule will be:

Yoga                                   Feb.3&10                      5:30pm                  Dawn

Body Blast                           Feb.3&10                      6:00pm                  Dawn

Bosu                                   Feb.17&24                    5:30pm                  Dawn

Step                                   Feb.17&24                     6:00pm                  Dawn

Then at 6:30 stay for our regularly scheduled body blast class.

In March and April you can look forward to also sampling zumba, turbokickboxing (TKB), cycle, pilates, cardio strength intervals (CSI), Ab Blast and more. This is an opportunity to try a shortened version of these classes, to get to know the instructors and to make some new friends. Meanwhile please realize that beginners are always welcome at all of our classes. These classes come free with your membership so take advantage of them often.

In the days ahead I’ll be calling our new members to answer any of your questions but you are all free to call me anytime with your concerns and suggestions. That number is 816 785-4525. Or leave a comment below.  Hope to see you in class soon.
